Weeknotes #16
This week there’s exciting new jobs from BALTIC, One Further and Substrakt, a Bloomberg Digital Accelerator project out in the wild, and a new guide to getting started with Looker Studio.
Getting started with Looker Studio
This week my introductory article about Looker Studio went live on the Digital Culture Network website. It has step-by-step instructions to help you build your first report in Looker Studio using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) data.
As I mentioned last week, Google added a limit to the API requests for GA4 data which broke a lot of reports. Frustratingly, I’d already written this resource so I’ve added its a note. More to come on that one.
This introductory article is the first in a series of resources around Looker Studio, I’ll go deeper into the functionality and different data sources in further pieces.
Bloomberg Digital Accelerator Programme
We’re starting to see the outcomes of the first Bloomberg Digital Accelerator cohort. Some are focused on internal systems and processes, but others like The Old Vic, are firmly for audiences.
The Hub is a brand new free online platform designed to enable audiences globally to delve behind the scenes of the cultural industries to experience how they can positively enhance life skills, career pathways and mental health.
The Hub contains video tutorials and career development podcasts to interactive quizzes and virtual tours, It offers over 60 free pieces of content, as well as downloadable resource materials and independent learning guides.
BALTIC Digital Project Manager
For cohort 2, the projects are moving into the implementation phase. BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art are looking for a Digital Project Manager to help deliver an integrated Customer Relationship Management database tool (CRM), a redeveloped Archive Website that will migrate c.30,000 content records and a new website, Nature + Nurture which will enable the public to creatively explore and share the nature on Baltic's doorstep, and their own. Sounds amazing!
Digital analytics jobs in the cultural sector
Talking of jobs, there’s some cracking ones available if you’re into digital analytics and have experience using Google Analytics, Tag Manager and data visualisation tools such as Looker Studio:

(Georgina is currently showing off One Further’s remote working policy by posting from Greece!).
Next week I’m delivering a session about first-party data for the Bloomberg Digital Accelerator organisations in the UK and across the pond. Before that, we’re having a Digital Culture Network get together in Birmingham and we’ll meet our new Senior Manager, Julia Birch, who joins us in January 🥳.
