Google Analytics 4 training

Google have finally released their training programme for Google Analytics 4. It has been a long time coming and a huge gap for anyone getting started with the new version.

The first two study modules cover quite a lot of the standard functionality, and then it starts to creep into the more advanced functions such as BigQuery and Analytics 360 (which most organisations may ever go near). The certification quizzes you on all of these as well, so if you want to get that shiny badge at the end you need to brush up in advance.

Google Analytics Certification

The Google Analytics Certification assessment consists of 50 questions and you have 75 minutes to complete.

  • You will need a score of 80% or higher to pass.

  • If you end the assessment early or the timer runs out before you have answered enough questions correctly, you will not pass and will not be able to resume from where you left off.

  • You must wait 1 day before retaking this assessment if you failed your last attempt.

The issue I find with a lot of the platform-provided training is it is too general and lacks the context of how you may use it in your unique organisation (especially one in Arts and Culture). If you’d like 1-2-1 help and training, get in touch through the Digital Culture Network and look at the upcoming Coach training from One Further and events from the AMA.

Goodbye Haydn!

This was Haydn Corrodus’ last week at the Digital Culture Network (DCN). Haydn was one of the very first Tech Champions when the DCN launched in 2019. He has helped hundreds of Arts and Culture organisations and always willing to share his time and knowledge with the rest of the team. I’ve learnt so much from Haydn over the last three years and it has been a complete joy to be his colleague.

The team is also significantly less cool now he’s gone.

Out and about

On Monday I recovered from the heatwave by going to Arts Council England’s air conditioned Manchester office. I picked up a new Surface Pro as my trusted one of the last three years has stopped charging. Sad to the the old one go (yes I have become attached to an inanimate object). I’m now on Windows 11, which seems to be the same as Windows 10 but with rounded edges on everything.

I got the train up to Lancaster on Tuesday to see the marketing team at The Dukes.

I met with Karen Chandisingh (Audience Development & Data Manager) and the Marketing Officers Gabi Dawkins and Julita Furriel. Together we plotted out what campaign reports would be useful and built them live in Google Data Studio using Google Analytics 4 data. Karen picked it up incredibly fast and was knocking out new charts, graphs and scorecards in record time.

We also used the new connectors from the Gladior Data Hub to link in Facebook Insights, Facebook Ads and Instagram. Next steps for the team are to start using UTM Parameters to track their campaign activity.

I’m working on a Google Sheet to make it easier to generate and save links with campaign tracking so i’ll share that when ready.

Long weekend

I’m ending this week early as we’re off to Just So Festival for the weekend in our VW T25 campervan! πŸŸπŸΈπŸ¦ŠπŸ¦‰πŸ¦ŒπŸ
