Weeknotes #39

Wrexham was great, we went to Tลท Pawb for food and the Aildanio: 2022-23 Arts Prize Exhibition, and visited the Xplore! Science Discovery Centre which was ace. Although I didnโ€™t see Ryan Reynolds, I did learn about the benefits of taking an air fryer to a campsite.

Art gallery space with three adults, two holding children. One child is pulling a face. Text about the exhibition is on the main wall with Aildanio in large red letters.

Aildanio: 2022-23 Arts Prize Exhibition

This week:

On Tuesday I went to Manchester to meet up with Sadie Abson (Senior Manager) and go through the new Google Analytics 4 (GA4) data weโ€™re collecting for the Digital Culture Network website. We also had lunch (Nellโ€™s Pizza!๐Ÿ•) with Genevieve Robles (Project Coordinator) before she rejoins the team in October (hurrah!).

In the afternoon I spoke to Katy Baird (Artistic Director) and Hannah Rose Fox at Home Live Art about setting up GA4, pulling through metrics from different systems, and using data visusalisation tools.

Wednesday morning I delivered a GA4 webinar for Museum Development with the excellent Rachel Cartwright (Digital Engagement Officer) at South West Museum Development. We went through the upcoming changes and how museums can use GA4 for decision making.

During registration we asked where people were at in their journey with Google Analytics 4, with the following responses:

  • 58.21% - I have used Google Universal Analytics, but not the new version

  • 28.36% - I have no idea what this is, teach me!

  • 11.94% - I have set up Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and would like a tour of its functionality

  • 1.49% - I have been using GA4 and want to know how to customise it

This helped our understanding of museumsโ€™ needs and informed the content of the webinar.

In the afternoon I caught up with Andy Batson (Head of Audiences and Partnerships) at Nottingham Contemporary. They now have GA4 set up and running on the site so we discussed the different reports and setting up custom Events.

On Thursday I spoke to Karys Orman (Production, Data and Insight Analyst) and Alex Marshall (Communications Strategist) at Orchestras Live. This was another great chat going through the reporting abilities of GA4 and advanced customisations.
